Allen's View

This woodland area has fine views north and south along the coast and is situated north of Tenby on the hill crest between Tenby and Waterwynch bay alongside and accessed from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The Garden has been entrusted to the Civic Society for its safekeeping and upkeep. The Society would welcome any contribution, be it financial or otherwise to preserve the picturesque natural beauty of the grounds at Allen's View.

A sub-committee meets weekly to monitor planning applications in Tenby and agree comments to be made to the Planning Authority. Details are reported to the Executive Committee and also to the members in the Society's Newsletter. Basic details of planning applications are listed on the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park's web site, under planning, and planning applications. Type Tenby into the address/ location box and a list of current applications comes up. Full copies of current applications can be inspected in Tenby Town Council offices in the De Valence Pavilion, Upper Frog St Tenby, or the National Park Offices, Llanion Park, Pembroke Dock. Plans are not available on line.

Traffic Management

The continued rise in traffic is a major problem in Tenby's narrow and historic streets. The Civic Society plays a positive part in consultations with the County Council and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park over traffic measures, pedestrianisation and park and ride schemes in Tenby. We ran a members questionnaire to assess their views of the scheme's initial operation. Tenby Walled Town Residents Association have also had a continuing and effective role in getting the details of the scheme to bed down well in subsequent years.
